Ian Eckhardt's blog ::The Rock should NOT win the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble.

Over               the               last               50               years               many               memorable               wrestlers               have               won               gold               in               the               WWE               including               Bruno               Sammartino,               Hulk               Hogan,               The               Undertaker,               Ric               Flair,               and               Bret               Hart.

The               most               prestigious               titles               in               the               organization               are               the               WWE               Championship,               the               Intercontinental               Championship,               the               World               Heavyweight               Championship,               and               the               World               Tag               Team               Championship.

However,               over               the               years               the               WWE               has               had               its               share               of               other               championships.

Here's               a               look               back               at               some               of               the               forgotten               titles               in               WWE               history.
               The               Hard               Core               Championship.

This               distinctive               title               was               active               from               1998-2002.

Mankind               (Mick               Foley)               was               the               original               holder               of               the               Hard               Core               Championship,               as               he               was               awarded               the               belt               by               Vince               McMahon.

During               the               duration               of               the               Hard               Championship,               the               title               followed               24/7               rules,               meaning               the               champion               had               to               be               on               his               toes               at               all               times.

The               belt               could               be               defended               anytime,               anywhere               as               long               as               a               referee               was               present               to               count               the               pin.

Wrestlers               would               take               full               advantage               of               this               stipulation,               as               it               was               not               unusual               to               see               the               title               change               hands               multiple               times               in               one               evening.

These               matches               were               usually               entertaining               and               comedic               as               titles               were               often               defended               backstage,               in               parking               lots,               or               even               in               hotel               rooms.

Since               foreign               objects               were               allowed               in               matches,               opponents               would               use               a               variety               of               weapons               such               as               trash               cans,               kendo               sticks,               or               even               champagne               bottles               to               score               a               pin.

Several               women               wrestlers               even               held               the               title               including               Molly               Holly,               Trish               Stratus,               and               Terri               Runnels.

Wrestlers               who               enjoyed               multiple               title               reigns               included               the               Big               Boss               Man,               Hardcore               Holly,               Rob               Van               Dam,               and               Tommy               Dreamer.

Since               a               champion               could               literally               hold               the               title               for               mere               seconds               before               an               opportunistic               opponent               would               come               along               to               win               the               strap,               title               changes               were               hard               to               follow.

Perhaps               for               this               reason,               the               Hardcore               Championship               was               discontinued               in               2002.

Rob               Van               Dam               was               the               last               holder               of               the               belt.
               The               European               Championship.

This               title               was               instituted               in               1997.

Fittingly,               the               championship               was               originally               won               by               the               British               Bulldog,               who               prevailed               over               Owen               Hart               in               a               tournament               held               in               Germany.

When               Shawn               Michaels               won               the               title               from               the               British               Bulldog,               Michaels               became               the               WWE's               first               grand               slam               winner,               as               he               was               the               first               wrestler               to               have               won               four               different               titles               in               the               federation.

After               Michaels               won               the               title               in               England,               no               other               title               holder               won               the               belt               on               European               soil.

To               help               promote               the               title,               wrestlers               were               often               billed               as               being               from               Europe,               even               though               they               clearly               were               not.

The               European               Championship               was               briefly               retired               in               April               1999,               but               was               resurrected               in               June               of               that               same               year.

The               WWE               gave               the               European               Championship               a               lofty               push               as               some               of               its               biggest               stars               held               the               title               including               Triple               H               and               Chris               Jericho.

William               Regal               and               D-Lo               Brown               both               have               won               the               belt               on               four               separate               occasions.

The               European               Championship               was               retired               in               2002               when               Rob               Van               Dam               pinned               European               Champion               Jeff               Hardy               to               merge               the               Intercontinental               and               European               Championships.
               The               Light               Heavyweight               Championship.

With               the               Light               Heavyweight               Championship,               wrestlers               weighing               220               pounds               or               less               were               able               to               compete               for               their               own               title.

Gillberg,               a               wrestler               who               made               no               bones               about               trying               to               copy               Goldberg,               was               the               longest               reigning               Light               Heavyweight               Champion.

Gillberg               held               the               title               for               15               months               before               dropping               the               strap               to               Essa               Rios               in               2000.

A               tournament               was               held               in               1997               to               determine               the               WWE's               first               Light               Heavyweight               Champion.

Taka               Michinoku               won               the               title               by               defeating               Brain               Christopher               and               Michinoku               ended               up               holding               the               belt               for               10               months.

Scotty               2               Hotty               holds               the               distinction               as               having               the               shortest               title               reign;               he               held               the               title               for               just               10               days               before               losing               the               belt               to               Dean               Malenko.

The               Light               Heavyweight               Champion               was               discarded               in               2001               when               the               WWE               eventually               replaced               it               with               the               Cruiserweight               Championship.

Ian Eckhardt's blog ::The Undertaker marries Michelle McCool

The               reason               why               the               match               between               Michelle               McCool               and               Layla               had               a               "Loser               Leave               WWE"               Stipulation               is               because               Michelle               McCool               has               had               plans               of               retiring.

Of               course,               we               saw               Michelle               lose               the               match               to               Layla               and               now               Michelle               is               gone               from               the               WWE.

Yesterday,               Michelle               McCool               explained               to               WWE.com               on               why               she               is               leaving               the               WWE               and               never               returning:
"My               foot               has               been               injured               for               two               months               now,               broken               toe,               torn               joint               capsules,               torn               MCL.

I               took               a               good               beating               by               Layla               and               Kharma,               too.

I               know               I'll               be               feeling               it               tonight,               tomorrow               and               probably               the               next               day,"               McCool               said.

"But               I'll               wear               it               with               pride."
"I've               been               doing               this               for               six               years               now.

Love               me               or               hate               me,               I               hope               the               WWE               Universe               can               respect               that               night               in               and               night               out,               I've               given               it               my               all,"               McCool               tearfully               said.

"This               is               definitely               emotional,               and               I'm               sure               it'll               be               like               that               for               awhile."
"Thank               you               for               the               love               and               the               hate.

Thank               you               for               being               you               and               for               watching.

Hopefully               I'll               see               you               around               '"               not               in               the               ring               '"               but               maybe               someday."

She               captured               the               WWE               Universe               with               her               beauty,               athleticism,               and               her               ability               to               display               a               great               heel               or               face               character.

She               won               four               women               championships               during               her               6               year               career.

Isn't               that               ironic,               she               retired               from               the               WWE               before               her               husband               "The               Undertaker?"

Suddenly,               the               cameras               showed               the               divas               backstage               watching               Kharma               destroy               McCool.

It's               safe               to               say               that               Kharma               will               destroy               anything               that               attempts               to               get               in               her               way.
